Attack on Titan Season 4 is going to be the biggest release of 2020 as the final release date has been officially announced. 

A NHK release from NHK today announced that Attack on Titan: The Final Season will premiere on December 7th, 2020. The final season will be produced by animation studio MAPPA instead WIT.




The official website describes the story of fourth and final season goes as such:

“The truth outside the wall that has been finally revealed to the public. To this point, humankind was made many sacrifices to reach this point. Nevertheless, they must continue to move forward. They have seen the sea ​​outside the wall, a symbol of freedom, thier own eyes. Time has passed and it has been 6 years since the expedition. Survey Corps have to carry out an important outside of Wall Maria . There is a sea over the wall, and there is freedom over the sea. The story of Eren Yaeger enters a new phase.”


Funimation has confirmed that they will stream the final season with English subtitles and an English dubbed. The English-subtitled version will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Ireland on the same day it premieres in Japan. The series will also stream in Brazil and Mexico, and the SimulDub will premiere a few days later.

 The final season will be directed by Yuichiro Hayashi (Dorohedoro, Kakegurui) at MAPPA. Hiroshi Seko is now the series composer, with Tomohiro Kishi on character design, and Kohta Yamamoto working on the music alongside veteran Hiroyuki Sawano. All cast members are also returning to reprise their original roles.  

Also the creator Hajime Isayama has confirmed that only 5% of the story is remaining before the manga ends. He also said that he is aiming to finish the series next year.

Written and drawn by Hajime Isayama, Attack On Titan is a monthly manga published in Monthly Shounen Jump.Wit Studio animated the first three seasons along with two compilation movies and several OVAs. A Hollywood live-action is said to be under development.

The story takes in a world where the last remnants of humanity live within a walled city in order to escape the danger of the Titans, a race of giants monsters that eats humans. The lead character, Eren Yeager, ends up joining the military with his two childhood friends Mikasa and Armin after the Titans break through the wall and attack his hometown. Now Eren, Mikasa, and Armin must survive in a world where they not only have the Titans to fear, but the very humans they are trying to save.
